The idea that you should not unilaterally believe any source, mainstream or otherwise, is something I've taught (and been taught how to teach) in Writing/Composition 101 at multiple R1 universities across the country. It is basically standard practice for any program of critical thinking at the freshman level.
Didn’t that argument start with Josh quoting news orgs who were reporting on outside agitators?
And didn’t it turn out that those news orgs were directly quoting city administrations?
And didn’t those same administrations later say they were repeating inaccurate information given to them by...the police?
And don’t the cops fucking suck?
And isn’t that why I generally mock and distrust the mainstream media? And isn’t that why I have not defended the police once in this situation? And isn’t that exactly why I push for a less powerful and overreaching government? I mean, you are basically proving the point that I’ve made forever that the mainstream media is just a mouthpiece for the leftist politicians that constantly lie to our faces.
The media accurately reporting that the mayor had heard something from the police, which later turned out to be a lie that attempted to bolster right-wing worldviews, is proof that the mainstream media is a mouthpiece for leftist politicians?
Lmao we're done here.

Verb, nothing about you is redeeming. Nothing about you is good. You are nothing and you mean nothing. Own that.
Explain to me how you rationalize supporting a racist?
I'm going to guess it's something something economy. The greatest economy in history? An economy so great that 3 months of a pandemic has brought the country to it's knees and the least fortunate, the ones who despite the booming economy, never managed to scrape together more than a few hundred in savings, are suffering? If "But the economy!!" Is really your answer it sounds to me like that's more of a "fuck you I got mine" type of a take on how the people of this country have actually been doing, friend.
Generations of systemic inequality and racism has brought us here. Check your privilege.
I literally have less than $3000 in my bank account. I’ve been mostly unemployed since October. I was hired for a new job that I was really excited for 4 days before the pandemic hit, which meant the job offer was revoked. I have not had a single opportunity to get a job in my field since.
The sales/marketing/advertising business for the hospitality industry doesn’t exist right now. The family owned business that I left last year after 19 years, has had to lay-off half of its sales force and 2/3 of its graphic department (which were my previous jobs there). My parents and brother haven’t had one penny of income in ten weeks. I have unemployment benefits of about $400 a week, but my mortgage and child support are a combined $3,400 a month. Again, you assume things about me that couldn’t be less accurate. I’m not in any place to boast about finances.
After my heart attack 18 months ago, I was unable to work for more than half a year. When I returned to work, I wasn’t able to continue the travel schedule required to continue my sales career in the same capacity. I work on sales revenue. I lost more than 2/3 of my income after making no salary for six months. I burned through my life saving on living expenses, medical bills, child support, and having three kids (including two teenagers) that I have to feed, clothe, insure, and generally pay for. Over the last two years I’ve gone from living comfortably to literally being weeks away from having to sell my home.
I don’t complain. I don’t even tell people about it.
I have suffered severe panic attacks that have resulted in hospitalization. I take medication for anxiety and depression. If dealt with suicidal thoughts and days spent without sleep. And yet I don’t complain. Barely anyone even knows.
I pray every night for an opportunity to get things straightened out. And I believe that will happen. Somehow someway. Even though I’m terrified of losing everything I’ve spent 20 years working for.
So you can take your bullshit privilege narrative and shove it elbow deep in your cleft asshole. You are an ignorant fuck and the epitome of a complete piece of shit human being.

you don't have a greater understanding of the video I watched of George Floyd getting killed, his 'official' autopsy results, and the video of your white neighbor getting shot at by the police while on her own front porch...,
so get the fuck out of here with that snooty-ass bullshit!

I have not defended a single thing you just listed. In this very thread I had a great moment of agreement with Mickey after he falsely accused me of supporting the police, which I don’t. I agree that George Floyd was murdered. I think all four cops involved should be sentenced to the longest possible period in prison. I question the validity of the “official” autopsy results, and no person sitting on their porch should ever be assaulted by police, and I have not ever said differently.
And you can go skullfuck yourself to death for saying my community being decimated is “necessary”.
check the aim of your aggression, bud. I'm not the one who kept THUGS like this^^^ on the force after multiple offenses. That was YOUR community's police department, and the autopsy results came from YOUR community's government officials, and it was YOUR state guard who fired on civilians who were on their own porch. I said it was necessary, I didn't say I liked it, I fucking HATE that it has to come to this, but Trump supporters such as yourself are part of the reason WHY this is happening. Your past posts which were re-posted proves that you're just another guy who rationalizes, deflects and looks like an absolute idiot, just like your orange hero in the white house.

What's there to really comment on? This could have just as easily happened in the deep south. If I was the mayor of Minneapolis, I'd feel unlucky, not guilty, although he seems like a decent man who is probably wondering what he could have done to mitigate this utter disaster.
It's not about conservatives or Dems. It's about inequality in America. And racism. Lots of racism. It's what we are. It's what we've always been. It's never changed, and in many aspects has only gotten worse.

Moron. Literally everyone in charge that can be blamed is a Democrat. Every single person in power that has an opportunity to stop this cop is a liberal. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Look at every position of power in the state of MN and the city of Minneapolis, they are all leftists. Even the murdering cop posted about his hate of Trump on social media. You could not possibly be more wrong or misguided.

I'm going to dip, I think this has played itself out and it feels wrong to keep kicking Josh when it sounds like he's having a rough go of it. I'll only note one final thing: individual misfortune does not in some way disprove systemic inequality. I hope you don't lose your house, Josh. I also know that home ownership is not a reality for the majority of black families, that there's a 30% gap in home ownership between black and white families and that the post civil rights gains in black homeownership were wiped out by the 2007 financial crisis created by GOP policy (and, it should be noted, worsened by Obama's bank-friendly recovery). And there's no way to talk about the destruction of big corporate chains in black neighborhoods without talking about the erosion of black communities by way of this housing crisis from which brands like Target emerged unscathed. So when we talk about a "great economy," we always have to ask, for who, and that question cannot be answered by reflexively pointing to the most recent news item (the mayor is A DEM!) but by a longer and more nuanced causal analysis capable of at least gesturing to the textured complexity of the world.

A press pass is a magical talisman that exempts one from generally applicable laws?
If shits popping off to the extent that curfews are necessary, the press is either acting as cover(strikeout) concealment for rioters or they should be embedded with the cops.
If a curfew order violates 1A, it doesn't just violate it for those with corporate badges.
Wanna comment on the content of the message or just continue to misdirect blame and act like a dipshit?
What does this prove about the endless footage of police escalating quiet moments into confrontation, assaulting the press, or harming bystanders tonight? There’s no world where the rioters’ behavior justifies any of that, and THAT type of police aggression is at the core of the original angst, and so keeps relegitimizing it.
