Getaway into MYM works so well
Six minutes of non stop earcandy.
I wonder what the switch from MYM to MFS will be like.
Can hardly wait

I've finally realised why this song didn't work on first listen but now I think it's awesome: the production.

Seriously, fuck Brendan O'Brien. He cuts every song exactly the same since Backspacer. This is a flat out punk jam mixed like a radio friendly Nickelback song. Grow a fucking pair of balls.

This one really feels like the odd man out right now. It's got this bite and fury to it in the vocals, lyrics and playing that the others don't have.

yeah, it does. It sounds pretty good following getaway since getaway gets all intense at the end. I wonder how my father's son is going to sound coming out of this. The other songs are all at least several tracks removed so the starker contrast isn't as puzzling there (at least not yet)

'My Father's Son' is going to be a more challenging, darker quieter song with some odd time changes, I think so in its mood it'll probably sit fine with those two.

Just starting to really slide downwards. Current best guess is, it will get very close to World Wide Suicide but not quite reach it.

It does mean the new single is perfectly timed, though.

historically is a new single likely to give the existing one a bounce?

No, but if it's successful at all it will help draw out its lifespan. Life Wasted didn't do well enough to create any lingering attention, so it didn't keep WWS from having a relatively short lifespan at radio. I think Suicide was completely done within 12-13 weeks of release. By comparison, the success of Just Breathe kept Fixer floating around the very bottom of the various format charts loooong after it had passed WWS's play total...I want to say that it was still showing up something like 25-30 weeks after release.

Mind Your Manners will not end up with as short a lifespan as WWS regardless, though.

Still my favorite song we've heard from LB so far. Was hoping a lot more of the album would rock this hard.

Same. In the end I think this album might be defined by its variety. Was it Mirella who said that not a single song feels like it "fits" on here? That could be really good, or really not good.

Mind Your Manners really stoked my anticipation for this album. I *thought* they were getting away a bit from Brendan O'Brien's cheesey additions (well, maybe I should say that the song had me hoping that). I've since been proven wrong, but I still REALLY like Mind Your Manners. I wish it was a bit more gruff, but I'm quite happy with it. It's probably going to end up my favorite song off this album based on what I've heard so far.

What a misleading fucking way to introduce an album.

I'm having that sentiment a bit too. I also look at the album cover and think about the music I've heard so far from the album and it's just not seeming to match. To me it seems like they had glimmerings of a coherent album idea that went astray with things like Future Days, Sleeping By Myself and other stuff.

Things seem fucked up again like when there were severed heads and an avocado together as album artwork. Haha

I've got no problem with things not "matching". That's how things get interesting. Thematically, everything is absolutely matching. Your argument about artwork not matching songs would be right if the artwork didn't... match the songs.
