This stuff isn't usually my style, but reading through the thread I felt I owed it a chance.
I'm enjoying this far more than I expected. I suspect that is at least partly because of the previously stated "old school" feels. Some funny stuff here (funny as in made me bust out a few smiles in response to some lines), and the beats certainly gets you going.

I'm having the opposite reaction, Trag. This grows on me with every listen. I had to put it on while driving home from the Coast last weekend while tired and it hit the sweet spot I needed to stay functional behind the wheel.
I saw these guys last week and they OWNED. One of the best shows I've been to in a long, long time. They even got the normally sedate Portland audience into a frenzy, right from the beginning. Great stuff.
These guys are playing in Chillicothe, IL at the Summer Camp festival, about 15 min. from my house. Problem is, they're on a side stage at a festival that is overrun by hippie jam bands (Moe, Umphrey's McGee, Trey Anastasio, Keller Williams, etc.). Real dilemma on my hands here, guys.
Walking in the Snow lyric: "and every day on the evening news they feed you fear for free. and you're so numb you watch the cops choke out a man like me. until my voice goes to a shriek to whisper 'i can't breathe'"

firing squad is pretty great.
I havent dive into the lyrics yet, but i assume they talk about whats happening for a long time, or are they special tidbits about riots or stuff like that?

mostly the former. evidently a lot of reviews are mentioning how they re-recorded some tracks since last week. el-p debunked it, saying the album was written last year.
