Ha!
I would say maybe Nothing As It Seems belong there being a single and also an somewhat obscuriy. But Last Exit? Hail, Hail?
Nope.

Re: Ultimate Pearl Jam Album Redux Track 7 (finals)
I feel like Daughter is the only one on here that most people know. You can't use fans -- especially fans that post frequently on a PJ message board -- as a reliable rubric to judge or define "hit" here. All of these songs are well known to super fans.
Even more-casual fans probably know and like Last Exit, maybe Hail Hail (but surely to a lesser degree). Sure. But I don't think either counts as a "hit." But I suppose it all depends on language and context.
I think I sort of get what I think you're trying to say, TVG. I'm not trying to bust balls. Nothing that's made it on here so far is super surprising except Thin Air. And neither of these two songs in this match (whichever wins) will be surprising either (though I concede Insignificance is probably less of a hit than Do The Evolution by the standards I mentioned above) in the context of this board and what songs are most beloved by a wide range of dedicated fans that kept listening after Vitalogy.
But the point isn't (nor should be) pick the least likely song for this Ultimate Album. Right?

Only 3 of the 6 songs so far are actually on their Greatest Hits album.

That is interesting. We should go for a double album !Farmer John wrote:Only 3 of the 6 songs so far are actually on their Greatest Hits album.

The way to do this would be if everyone created a 12 song album anonymously then they were voted on head to head with no rules. The rules make it impossible to have ultimate album. It is a fun exercise none the less.

All im saying is that if we were on a show and the band played these songs, most of us would say oh yeah the hits show. Oh, its a festival show.durdencommatyler wrote:I feel like Daughter is the only one on here that most people know. Of course im not expecting more, from an ULTIMATE PJ ALBUM thing, but my point is still valid. I think Last Exit is a very well know song, Hail hail too, In my Tree and of course, evolution.
Nothing as it seems might be unknown for a single, and yes, thin air is a rarity.

I think daughter is the only hit. To me Pearl Jam as very few hits. Very little compared to there contemporaries. I don't think they have had a hit since Last Kiss. You are correct in that those are very well known songs by die hard fans. I live in the seattle market and only daughter off the list has gotten air play in the last 20 years. I havent heard DTE on the radio since driving to a PJ concert in 2000.VinylGuy wrote:All im saying is that if we were on a show and the band played these songs, most of us would say oh yeah the hits show. Difficult to compare these things, but NAIS did better on the US Billboard Hot 100 than those three above.

Round is closed. DTE takes it a misleading (since everyone seems to really like both of these) blowout, 61-39%

I see. We're arguing about what songs on this ultimate album are hits.
gotcha.
Carry on.
