And like magic all the headlines in British papers today are about a possible suspect in the Madeline McCann case.
A story they all previously published 18 months ago.
Nothing about the Uk mortality rate or boris saying yesterday he’s proud of the job they’ve done so far.

There’s the other thing. The majority of deaths are in England.
Nicola sturgeon has been playing a blinder in Scotland. And they’re rate is far Far lower than England. Don’t have the numbers to hand but worth looking up for her reassurance

I think her parents are uncomfortable with her coming over. Right now i think the only flight she could take would be into London and her brother is outside York would have to drive her to Glasgow.dimejinky99 wrote:Strat wrote:Yea it sounds like J is postponing her trip back to her family for a couple more months nowdimejinky99 wrote:UK had 359 new deaths from Covid-19 reported in past 24hrs. Not worth it. Not yet. Especially when considering restaurants and pubs not fully open yet.

New cases is a worthless stat. Isn't 20k a day roughly what we've seen for weeks anyway?E.H. Ruddock wrote:20,000 new cases reported yesterday

That number of cases is actually a positive sign considering how many tests have been done.verb_to_trust wrote:New cases is a worthless stat. Isn't 20k a day roughly what we've seen for weeks anyway?E.H. Ruddock wrote:20,000 new cases reported yesterday
Last Wednesday, 19k cases were reported on ~300k tests. Yesterday, 20k cases reported with 450k+ tests. Rates of transmission seem to be down, which is promising news.

2 weeks, no new cases and just one pesky confirmed case still active. We may not defeat this completely, but we beat this prick down

It’s amazing how you continue to look for way to prove that anyone who might be liberal is a hypocrite, yet you continue to support a man that lies every time he’s given the chance to open his mouth. A man who is the very definition of hypocrisy and dishonesty.PHATJ wrote:Hypocrite

An image search shows he had one on at that protest. Probably took it off to speak.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

This is actually pretty helpful, cause I think it's fairly indicative of how completely ass backwards priorities in the right wing are right now. Your biggest takeaway from the biggest public health crisis our country has faced in recent memory is "Democrats are hypocrites!"
Which, um, well done? You've managed to make an argument that politicians will say one thing on Monday and another on Tuesday; surely no one's ever been brave enough to make such a point. I'm just constantly fascinated by folks on the right wing who will bend over backwards to learn the oddest lessons from major crises in order to ensure they don't have to go outside their bubble.
Maybe your persona outside of this site is very different; hopefully it is, but from here, you seem like a very angry person who is letting his partisanship subsume far too much of his identity. That's by no means unique, certainly in this country and this time, but still, I hope you get some self-awareness of that.

Why do all the people in the background have their masks on in one pic but not the other?

More important than the politicians being inconsistent is the public health officials. They are burning their credibility in the middle of a pandemic. They've chosen a political side pretty blatantly, so when we have another lockdown, one team will be primed to completely ignore them.digster wrote:This is actually pretty helpful, cause I think it's fairly indicative of how completely ass backwards priorities in the right wing are right now. If one could "scientifically" weigh political import vs public health thats one thing, but its not a question of science. I fucking heart science doesnt apply to value judgements and experts should make it clear to separate the most current scientific consensus from their opinion.

I believe the science is that racial injustice, economic disparity and racism is a far bigger threat to health than Covid is.simple schoolboy wrote:More important than the politicians being inconsistent is the public health officials. Covid is woke. Covid knows black lives matter. This will all work out just fine.surfndestroy wrote:I believe the science is that racial injustice, economic disparity and racism is a far bigger threat to health than Covid is.simple schoolboy wrote:More important than the politicians being inconsistent is the public health officials. That statement is insane by the way. Way over a million people are going to die within a year from this virus. Racial injustice and inequality are not going to be fixed by the end of the summer. If you're looking at if from a cost/benefit standpoint I don't see how congregate by the millions in DC tomorrow is the right call.
