Wait a minute, after all the videos we've seen over the last week of cops across the country brutalizing protestors, you're comfortable with the police patrolling your kid's high school protest?wease wrote:A self-appointed regulatory force that thinks it's better equipped than the trained police in my town to enforce law and order on unarmed high school kids?Higgs wrote:What's so crazy about it?wease wrote:Is this a serious fucking question?simple schoolboy wrote:Why would you be more concerned about them than the police?wease wrote:Apparently, there's been a mass email going to all concealed/open carry permit holders in our state to come to my town on Saturday to protect it during the high school kids' protest on Saturday. Re: The Protest Thread
Permitted concealed carriers are significantly less likely to be convicted of a crime than cops. That might be less comforting after this past week with all the excessive force videos, but then recall that the vast majority of those cops won't be convicted for what we observed.macphisto wrote:Wait a minute, after all the videos we've seen over the last week of cops across the country brutalizing protestors, you're comfortable with the police patrolling your kid's high school protest?wease wrote:A self-appointed regulatory force that thinks it's better equipped than the trained police in my town to enforce law and order on unarmed high school kids?Higgs wrote:What's so crazy about it?wease wrote:Is this a serious fucking question?simple schoolboy wrote:Why would you be more concerned about them than the police?wease wrote:Apparently, there's been a mass email going to all concealed/open carry permit holders in our state to come to my town on Saturday to protect it during the high school kids' protest on Saturday. In my town and knowing the type of people this call-to-arms will bring out from around here, absolutely. Without knowing the messaging that went out to them, I'm guessing their purpose is to protect businesses and ensure that the town doesn't burn if things get out of hand. They're not going to be tear-gassing and arresting high school kids.wease wrote:Exactly.Rob wrote:As bad as some cops have been, would anyone prefer to be guarded by these guys??macphisto wrote:Wait a minute, after all the videos we've seen over the last week of cops across the country brutalizing protestors, you're comfortable with the police patrolling your kid's high school protest?wease wrote:A self-appointed regulatory force that thinks it's better equipped than the trained police in my town to enforce law and order on unarmed high school kids?Higgs wrote:What's so crazy about it?wease wrote:Is this a serious fucking question?simple schoolboy wrote:Why would you be more concerned about them than the police?wease wrote:Apparently, there's been a mass email going to all concealed/open carry permit holders in our state to come to my town on Saturday to protect it during the high school kids' protest on Saturday. So on the one side, the cops may brutalize you in some way, and you might get booked for a few hours. On the other side, you're guarded by trigger happy amateurs who have been waiting for this day their whole lives. Hmmm.
