So SW and LB are the 2 you don't like? In a way I'm glad to hear that since I think those are the 2 biggest growers.
No. LTRP and LB. I'm already skipping them.

2 out of 4 really isn't bad.

Ewww don't like the comparison. I'm not a big fan of Down though.
SW is so much better when you get ITW out of your head and just hear it as a PJ song. I've said it before, but it's my clear favorite of the bunch.
I like the song. But wait, I meant 'Undone', not 'Down.' But a similar thing; it's the alternative 90s rock that wasn't quite *grunge* but was still cool back then and isn't now.

Yeah, SW is my favourite of these four as well.
I get what you were going for and you're right on =) I was just taking the opportunity to hate on Down (Although, during the song tournament that song actually grew on me a little).
Man, I'm starting to have a bad feeling about SBM lately. I think it's going to be a super cheesefest.
So do I. :| It may work, it may not, but the best hope we have is that we already like the song (assuming you do as well...).
I adore it so if the album version sucks I'll just replace it with the Uke version. Problem solved!
If you keep in your mind that the reviewers have said that it's very different, and has a completely different intent (an ironic, happy one), then you might be OK with it. We need the whole album to see whether it works I think.

I have to agree with REM comparisons. Especialy the descending repetitions of "down, down, down, down". I can picture SW being a REM song perfectly.

2 out of 6, possibly 7. Now that soundcheck song better deliver the goods. I'm still hopeful to get 5 tracks that I WANT to play.

That soundcheck song is going to become classic PJ, if only for the fact of how much pressure was put on it.

From all the listening party reviews these 4 plus SBM were the least anticipated.

Is it really? I didn't know that and that instantly makes me think my expectations will be met. I nerded out so hard last night playing that last few seconds of LB (the intro to Infallible) for my wife and then playing her the soundcheck song.

Getaway and MYM are semi decent, so thats 2 out of 6. I'm hoping with every fibre of my being My fathers son, infallible, pendulum and yellow moon are songs i'm gonna want to replay a zillion times after hearing them. If not well then, the entire album will be tossed into the meh pile, with s/t. Above the jesus-christ-no pile where backspacer shall stay. Unless the aforementioned songs are fuck awful.

Yellow moon could be more hippie earth lyrics though.

I was a lil over-excited. Sweet Lew is never on rotation for me, but it's a pretty clever/fun song!

This album is exactly a month away today for the UK. I hope I get it delivered on the day but I probably won't.

Think we will get a full leak before then still? I think I'll hold out listening to anything else unless it's lossless. These new songs told me all I need ti know about the album. It's going to be excellent.

Upon a few listens, my ranking of the 5 studio tracks, with some very low detail remarks, are:

1. Getaway - That bassline. Fuck. Yes.
2. Mind Your Manners - Rockin'
3. Let the Records Play - Sounds like fun sex between The Black Keys and lullabies era Queens of the Stone Age
4. Lightning Bolt - Rockin'
5. Swallowed Whole - Not a big fan of this one. Sounds like FoN fucking Unthought Known in the ass. I hate both those songs, but this is a little better.

In general, the feeling I have about these songs is that this is (for the most part) the light hearted Pearl Jam that made Backspacer, but not lame. That's the best I can do. These are good songs that I enjoy overall.
