This wasn't for me, but my wife enjoyed it - so that's the main thing

I can understand that. It was my girlfriend that first asked if we should see it, though I was planning to anyway. I enjoy female-driven period dramas. It was a category we spent considerable time on when I studied English Literature, and I’ve read most of the classics. I also enjoy the 1994 version on Little Women with Winona Ryder.

The cast here was mostly excellent, with maybe the only drawback, that the sisters looked nothing alike. Chalamet looked a little young, but he also stole most scenes he was in. The chemistry between him and Saoirse Ronan was electric. Emma Watson felt like a poor choice though. Both parents were great, and the other two sisters did well.

The start of the movie failed to fully connect with the characters, choosing instead to jump tilmelines too much. But once the story settled down a bit, it was easy to appreciate what they were going for. Overall I liked it, but had hoped for an extra spark, something to really put it over the top. Will probably see it again soon though.

This is probably the first review of this movie that really hit home for me. I liked it but there was definitely a spark missing. I agree about Chalamet, he was fantastic. Still think Odenkirk was a terrible casting.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot

Its an uneven film, but there are some very powerful moments. Loved the montage and specially Jonah Hill's performance.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I loved this. I didn't find it to be "uneven," just sort of not concerned with conventional plot or storytelling. I like how it unfolded, and having gone through 12 step, I think most every moment counted.

No, i loves the storytelling, the montage, everything. I think the movie is way better because of it. But i think it was really strong moments with some not so good ones, like everything that happens with Rooney Mara's character is pretty lame. And the ending with everyone listening to him talk, clapping with that music with strings..yeez. That was awful.

I was lukewarm going in but shocked at how much I enjoyed it--a biopic that feels like a low grade thriller, incredibly unsettling vibes throughout and Moss's performance was a big part of that. I thought it was a little flat with the ending, there were a few moments where the director chose to have these long lingering close-ups rather than something more interesting, which I think did sap the energy a bit. But overall really good, I thought.

Its a pretty cool movie, i loved the modern focus on women's abusers with the invisible man idea. And Moss is outstanding

Yeah ok VG, you’re right — all the stuff with Mara did kind of suck

Never heard of it before. It came out in 2013 and stars Adam Scott, Catherine O'Hara,Richard Jenkins, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amy Poehler and Jane Lynch.

It's always amazing to me when movies have a cast like that and I somehow totally miss them. Anyway, it was fine. I didn't hate it. Not something I'd recommend to everyone. You're probably not missing much if you never see it. But it wasn't bad at all.

Came reeeeeally close to being too on the nose but I think it pulled it off. Loved how understated the second half was.
