KD's post is hyperbolic, imo. But then so are mine. The real truth will be found somewhere in the middle.verb_to_trust wrote:The main reason I felt like posting that I had not heard the leak was because I was getting PM's for it. That wasn't even a troll. Based on KD's post there is nothing to really get excited about anyway...

Getaway aside, I'm having trouble placing any of these in the context of a pj live set list.
And btw, they all become much more fun if you just imagine ed dancing along to them.
Or scary depending on your view of his moves

It is moronic not to enjoy a song now because it might not age well in 6 months.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

It's amazing how the human brain works in different ways. is incredible read on this forum that even expect Pearl Jam sound like 10 years ago. if you've played in a band, you'll know that you will never sound like your previous album. these are great songs, solid. eddie's voice sounds incredible. get over it, they already have 50 years. Backsapcer see haters, is not Force OF Nature an incredible song? Just Breathe? Amongst the wave?. Well, so far would be: 1. Gateway 2.MYM 3. SW 4. LTRP 5: LB 6. FD

I want them all to do this, before the lightning comes, the auditorium begins to collapse, molten lava begins to seep up from the ground and the apocalypse is upon us.dprival78 wrote:i can see boom breakdancing to LTRPharmless wrote:I can see Stone doing the Duck Walk to Getaway.dimejinky99 wrote:Getaway aside, I'm having trouble placing any of these in the context of a pj live set list.

Getaway sounds 'younger' to me but not a younger pearl jam . They sound like one of those jimmy eat world brand new mid 2000s bands ( not literally those bands I just pulled 2 names from the deep recesses of my mind) . I was all set to love it till whipping came of shuffle and reminded me what I really like from pearl jam and then words I appear missing came on and reminded me what a really epic build/outro is. . Yeah yeah moving forward progressing stupid comparison etc, I just wish they kept a little grit. And I quite dislike that 'getaway-ay *solo*' part.HardTI wrote:The fun thing with these tracks is that I can imagine a younger version of this band playing them. In my head it sounds pretty awesome and it just re-enforces to me that these are good songs.
Seriously, picture a younger Ed singing these with the delivery and vocal abilities he had 15 years go.
I still like it though, best one so far and has some groove. Basically my opinion is useless.

He's a pretty level headed guy who makes well thought out posts. Not a fanboy. Plus, he's from Illinois so I feel like I understand him more.WtOB? wrote:why does kd's post matter so much more than everyone else's? is he a clique member?

I get that too when I listen to old songs: "Why can't they be like THAT?" But when I just listen to these ones, I'm pretty OK with them being *this* if they want to now.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
I can't speak for verb, but the fact that KD's post are well thought out and well articulated ups their weight in my book. His posts matter more to me than some others because 1) we agree alot 2) he takes the time to think through what he wants to say and how to say it 3) is articulate and entertaining. He's a damn fine writer and an experienced critic. I tend to want to hear what he has to say.WtOB? wrote:why does kd's post matter so much more than everyone else's? is he a clique member?
But that doesn't mean, in the grand scheme, that what he thinks matters more than anyone else. Just that I'm more likely to listen to and think about what he has to say.

Plenty of what you're calling "fanboys" are also this, including myself. I don't think there are any "fanboys" on this forum who aren't prepared to have critical conversations about PJ.verb_to_trust wrote:He's a pretty level headed guy who makes well thought out posts. There are a few fanboys on the forum. And I certainly didn't accuse you.....or even Stip, Stip just has horrible taste.harmless wrote:Plenty of what you're calling "fanboys" are also this, including myself. Edit: 'horrible taste in Pearl Jam. R.E.M. and Tom Waits opinions are generally okay.
