How about doing something to enact change for a problem that you are as responsible for as any one else rather than this "look at us" bullshit.
Romney managed this. Warren. AOC. Why? Because they *showed up*.
This feels plasticine, by comparison. The optics of it are carefully calculated, and the personal engagement required minimal. It makes the message feel “borrowed”...for a photo shoot.

Re: The Protest Thread
SHouldn’t their actions prior to this have shown where they stand? Some of them have had decades to try and enact legislation and decided to do nothing until there is a photo op. Maybe they have truly had a moment of growth but if so, only because they believe this will help them get voted in this year. Eight years of Obama and it’s like they thought having a black president solved everything, or that’s how it seems based on their actions for those eight years.Hatfield wrote:I think showing clearly where they stand is okay thing to do. Canada has the same thing with Trudeau. Photo ops a great game, his ground game is somewhat lacking though.

The kente cloth is big time cringe bullshit. I mean, did they order them on Amazon this weekend, or were they saving them for a perfect photo op.

There needs to be more of these memorial parks. Destroying statues isn’t quite the answer.
Memento Park is an open-air museum in Budapest, Hungary, dedicated to monumental statues and sculpted plaques from Hungary's Communist period. There are statues of Lenin, Marx, and Engels, as well as several Hungarian Communist leaders.

Let's check Paxton on the ingredients for Fascism:
Ah hah! You see this isn't the rise of Fascism because there is no male leader, no Trump. CASE CLOSED.

I think if we have to parse it out this far, we're probably in trouble.Bi_3 wrote:Stage 3?surfndestroy wrote:SHouldn’t their actions prior to this have shown where they stand? Citing Robert Paxton on the rise of fascism in the context of the Democrats and BLM is one of the biggest reaches I have ever seen. Never log off, friend, you have a true poster's soul.
