Gigaton is a great fucking record. Lyrically, and musically. Comes Then Goes is my favorite track. I’ve seen a lot of love for Binaural on this thread. I’d like my money back for that record

It’s interesting that he describes the dynamic of control here as Ed+producer.scrub12 wrote:

Seems like Ed does the same thing at the end of recording that he does with the setlist. And they trust him to do that, obviously. Should give Stone a turn next time.

Re: Gigaton: Official album thread
This is really good, as expected with Stone.
Who Ever Said wrote pretty late in process, probably about a year ago after they had what felt like most of the record. Loves the lyrics, "Satisfaction" an obvious nod to the Stones.
Really proud of SuperBlood, Mike and I haven't gotten it live, their guitar tones?, to where Ed wants it.
Dance creative process has been beat to death, but I did enjoy Stone saying he finally got the bass line down after the interviewer - Charles H - was able to bring him his edibles to the warehouse.
Quick Escape - Richard Stuverud actually plays on the demo of this tune. This was a Jeff song, a keeper from the start, this is really a Jeff album, he's kind of been the guiding force for us musically on this record.

I love Stone talking about Ed's playing on superblood wolf moon.
I love the song because of the wonderful and changing ed rhythms throughout. simple yet...slightly off.

Gave this a listen for the first time in a while. It really is a great album, and the difference between this and some of their other modern work is palpable. The songs just sound extremely vibrant; it's always hard to read ephemeral qualities into music, as in "they sound really inspired," but it's hard to avoid it here. The band just sounds like it was aware they knew this was something different and a step forward, and it comes through in the playing, the arrangements and the production. I still am not sure where it lands in the discography, but it's undoubtedly their biggest accomplishment post-2002.

This is a great album and came out at the perfect time. It's helped make it through the pandemic and Retrograde has helped with losing my dad a few weeks ago.
I'm so glad they released this album this year.
