Never mind the fact that that data cited in that screed is completely fraudulent, that of the 1098 people killed by police in 2019, 259 were black (24% of victims despite being 13% of the population), and 38 of them were confirmed unarmed (plus an untold additional number of cases where it is unclear if they were armed or not, where they are allegedly armed on the word of the police which has not been confirmed, or where the "weapon" was a knife, vehicle, etc.).

I'm listening to people debate this issue and talk about their experiences and their thoughts and feelings on many issues. Yeah that does sound shitty. These stats are difficult to parse, indeed. It's difficult when you're a crime fighting police officer and I'm sure mistakes happen. I'm also mostly sure there is not a systemic problem with most human cops going to work everyday with the goal of murdering innocent people. But sorting out the evil cops needs to happen someway somehow for sure.

Even if *most human cops* (weird adjective, but okay) don't consciously think, "I would like to murder some [insert racial slur]s today," that doesn't account for things like unconscious bias, for the fact that, as events in Buffalo show, a significant number of cops are more interested in defending their colleagues' immunity than in justice, nor for how, as little more than avatars for the state's legitimate use of force, the police are *wildly* unsuited and often actively antagonistic to a number of situations for which they are currently responsible, which is why "defund the police" also means "reinvest those funds in unarmed, nonviolent municipal services." I was quite serious above, and I agree with Ruddo--it should be riskier to be a police officer than to interact with police. That's, reportedly, part of the fucking job, but it's really hard to make the case that you're the thin blue line between order and chaos who has taken a massive personal risk/sacrifice to protect society when you're murdering AT LEAST twice the number of unarmed people as the number of cops who actually are killed in the line of duty.

Yeah, and the local FOP here in Philly is selling t-shirts in support of the officer who cracked a protestor's skull with his baton and is now facing assault charges. Maybe not all cops are personally assaulting peaceful protestors, but it increasingly looks like a plurality of cops want to come to the defense of any so-called bad-apples.

That's not what I think. I think any life lost unjustly is horrible. I don't know if the stats show that there is a problem with racist cops. Are there instances? Definitely. But I don't know otherwise. People are being killed of all walks of life for all different reasons and not just by cops. All bad.
