Talk Talk is 100% the answer. Put out two of the best albums of all time, didn't tour them, and just peaced out into the sunset.

Re: Late Career Masterpieces
It's literally the last studio album they recorded. It doesn't get any later than that. Age and length of career are irrelevant.liebzz wrote:How could this count!? They were 6 years into their career as a band and Cobain was 26 years old?Bammer wrote:SavageSuperblood Wolfmoon wrote:

18 years in should qualify. At this point, PJ was releasing Backspacer. Enough said.Superblood Wolfmoon wrote:Petty's first album was 1976. Wildflowers was 1994. Last studio album was 2014. Buddy Guy - Sweet Tea
He was 65 years old at the time of this release. Maybe it shouldn't count because he is still going at the age of 83.

What does that say for the Sex Pistols?Superblood Wolfmoon wrote:It's literally the last studio album they recorded. It doesn't get any later than that. Nothing because the Sex Pistols suck.

The thread is called “Late Career Masterpieces,” not “Firat Half of Career Masterpieces.”7 Years and Maybe Longer wrote:18 years in should qualify. At this point, PJ was releasing Backspacer. Re: Late Career Masterpieces
I wouldn't really call it a masterpiece but Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters was surprisingly good after a run of mediocre trash.

I think this counts for sure, the more I listen to Ghosteen the more I think it's among his best 2-3 albums if not his single best. That said, I think he has had a lot of great late-career material; for my tastes, it's his wilder, less formed earlier albums that don't quite land.chewm wrote:I love Ghosteen by Nick Cave but I haven't listened to enough of his stuff to compare

Bill Evans's You Must Believe in Spring is, in my opinion, his greatest work (it was recorded a year before he died, in 1980).

Yes. 65 and he cranks out a heavy, guitar monster album. I think you’ve inspired me to get this on vinyl.7 Years and Maybe Longer wrote:Buddy Guy - Sweet Tea

Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Re: Late Career Masterpieces
Given her output though, I'm not confident calling this part of her career "late." She may very well be mid-career.cutuphalfdead wrote:YepMike wrote:Fetch The Bolt Cutters

Well yeah, the definition of late career will shift for artists still working.durdencommatyler wrote:Given her output though, I'm not confident calling this part of her career "late." She may very well be mid-career.cutuphalfdead wrote:YepMike wrote:Fetch The Bolt Cutters

In the midst of a revisit and ready to add Before the Frost...Until the Freeze. I am really enjoying this album at the present moment.
