I think its difficult in terms of the right tone. It has also pretty weird structure that could be difficult to maintain live.

I just think you have to get those guitar parts in the verse just right, or it’ll sound either too well behaved or like a total mess. That little skip downwards they do is the kind of “seems simple” that I would struggle like hell on.

What mix did they use on this cast? I feel like the vocals at the end of Retrograde aren’t pushed as far back as I’m used to, but maybe I’m just paying extra close attention.

I found that interesting too, and that Stone commented Ed hadn't brought many songs to the sessions up until that point.

Who Ever Said and Never Destination are two of my favourite songs on the record, but I wonder what a less Ed-dominated version of the album was starting to sound like, and whether there might've been some other rockers penned by Stone, Mike or Matt which ended up pushed aside or left almost-finished.

Hopefully we hear the Gigaton leftovers at some point.

I haven't finished Stone's walkthrough yet, but I agree he's by far the member of the band who's best suited to doing this. Really enjoying it.

I wonder if Eddie thought the album needed more up-tempo material. Without those three songs, there's some heavy stuff (Quick Escape and Take the Long Way), but nothing really fast-paced or punkish; it's a pretty mellow, slow moving record besides those songs.

Nice to hear someone inside the band suggest that this is Jeff’s album. Also, I hadn’t really listened to the bass in Buckle Up until now.

Does Matt ever really do these kinds of interviews? How articulate is he?

I think Matt is very articulate

similar to stone - great technical skill / knowledge - but can still explain things like a human and with feelings
