Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Yes, it is difficult to obtain 100% accurate data. This is also not proof of anything.

I don't think you're every going to find some magic set of data that proves it one way or another. That's not how it works. It's like thinking you know what happened in a football game by looking at the box score instead of watching the game.

It's a solid case for your "There's no bias in Houston" study being total bullshit.tree_ wrote:Yes, it is difficult to obtain 100% accurate data. This is also not proof of anything.

Without proof or faith, there's no reason to believe something exists. It would be just as valid to assume Tony Timpa's murder was racially motivated as George Floyd's.

You could use that to argue against virtually any data's validity.B wrote:It's a solid case for your "There's no bias in Houston" study being total bullshit.tree_ wrote:Yes, it is difficult to obtain 100% accurate data. This is also not proof of anything.

Proof and faith are opposites. So... what do you mean?

Now you're getting it! So then what's the next step. You look at the data and then you... ? I simply mean those are the two ways in which you can believe something to exist.durdencommatyler wrote:Proof and faith are opposites. So... what do you mean?

Please don't make baseless accusations. I'm trying to help you by asking questions. The best teachers I've ever had have done the same and it's been invaluable to me.tree_ wrote:Please don't be condescending.durdencommatyler wrote:Now you're getting it! So then what's the next step. I'd really like to move on to consequential topics. But, yes, your assumption that I'm your pupil and you have important lessons for me is actually baseless and condescending. You might have knowledge for me, I don't know. But it doesn't seem like it so far.

Re: Systemic / Institutional / Societal Racism
Whatever, my dude. You asked questions. You wanted to have a conversation. I tried to do that. And it's not the first time. It's also not the first time that after I tried, you told me to fuck off. So, you can have it your way. It's no skin off my sack.tree_ wrote:I'd really like to move on to consequential topics. This really doesn't have to be this difficult. If you think you have some knowledge to share, let's have it. Were you trying to say earlier that data doesn't matter?

This is where we left off. Before you know what we're even discussing, you might want to read the study I posted. We can go from there.durdencommatyler wrote:Now you're getting it! The net of what the graphs appear to be saying is that "we are unable to collect data that would mathematically prove bias in treatment and this is why", so I don't think it proves anything either way.B wrote:It's a solid case for your "There's no bias in Houston" study being total bullshit.tree_ wrote:Yes, it is difficult to obtain 100% accurate data. Doing research on something else and came across this image. Obviously the specifics are different but the attitude feels familiar.
