Three members of the Minneapolis City Council have reportedly been provided with a private security detail after receiving threats for supporting proposals to defund the city's police department in the wake of George Floyd's death.

The city is currently spending $4,500 per day on security for council members Andrea Jenkins, Phillips Cunningham and Alondra Cano, Fox 9 reported on Friday.

A spokesperson for the city told the outlet that the private security has cost roughly $63,000 over the past three weeks.

And how do we feel about these folks? (So far)

Obviously the rally-ticket-request prank only hurt Drumpf & his campaign, but there's some push back for the effort to spam WLM when they could have increased the profile of BLM. I think it stripped the crazies of their hashtag, but I see the other view point.

Mostly I think the kpop dudes are great at boosting racist hashtags (that few if any knew or cared about) to the top of Twitter trending. I'm not sure how making "#itsoktoberacist" trend on Twitter is winning, even if it's all adorable Asian girls.

right, that's why I'm mixed about it.

I get the idea of drowning out the power/intention of those that would use it seriously (or be trying to find others that agree with it), but I also get the backlash for pushing this to the fore when other sentiments could stand to be more widely shared.
