If he dies before the convention it's settled at the convention--Bernie would be the ostensible frontrunner because he still has a pool of delegates but not enough to win on first ballot so it would really be anyone's game. If he dies after the convention the party itself can select a replacement and are not necessarily beholden to electors/voters, though I can't imagine this being anyone but the VP.
