The following exchange took place in the past 48 hours in the Greater Seattle Area.

Cyclist “C” and Passenger “P” below

C is riding along the bike lane, approx 20mph. Car drives by and P reaches out window to smack C on the back, going about 35mph. C fortunately does not lose balance or crash into a parked car, pedestrian, etc. this is on a fairly busy street. C knows that the car will eventually come to a red light and kicks into high gear to catch up to the car.

About a mile later, C (a white male, early 40’s, in very good shape) catches up to the car at a red light in front of a restaurant where several diners sit at tables just a few feet away from the car. C shouts into the open window of the car at P (a black male, early 20’s, small in stature).

C: “Hey! What are you doing??!? That was really dangerous! I could have crashed. Why did you do that??”

P: “Fuck you cracker! You wanna go? You can’t handle this smoke, n——! Black lives matter, bitch! You can’t touch me right now!” Etc etc you get the idea.

Car pulls off. C looks behind to the diners witnessing the whole thing.

C: “Did you see that?”

Diner: “Yeah what was that all about?”

C: “He drove by and hit me on the back like a mile ago.”

Diner: With a sarcastic thumbs up and a sarcastic smirk, sarcastically says “Race relations.”

I’m not going to get into my role in this, if any. Just telling you it happened.
