He sounds like a total dickhead. He wasn’t protecting his wife. He had her outside barefoot with a pistol.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree with what this guy was saying, but I do think people should watch a video like this before going off on how our "freedoms" are being taken from us. Lots of people focused on cancel culture, etc... but that video does look like it's taking place in a free country. The last couple of months have been good for "freedom" in my opinion. Perspectives held by marginalized groups have entered the mainstream. There's lots of cynicism out there but I think the next 10-20 years are going to be pretty remarkable, in a good way.BurtReynolds wrote:Which one is Mickey?

out thereon this board filled with aging white men with primarily middle class incomes, but I think the next 10-20 years are going to be pretty remarkable, in a good way.

Re: The Protest Thread
we should give credit to those cops, who probably make less money than most people on this board, and are taking a lot of shit for things that other people in their line of business have done, but have to stand their and eat it from freaks like that and be treated like an enemy or a traitor; when they are just some regular guy trying to earn a living and have not actually done anything wrong themselves; and have actually probably contributed more to society at this point in their lives than the heckler and his sidekick
and no, them just quitting their job as a policeman because 'all police are evil' or 'they are defending evil institutions' is not a practical response
the practical response is that protestors need to direct their message at a better audience than just 'anyone in a police uniform'
such as, politicians who can change the laws

Re: The Protest Thread
What is a cop going to quit their job and do? What's the bougie RM answer to that one? College professor? Vaguely defined remote administrative work?

Do you think the cops in that video are going to think freedom to rant at them is remarkable? I wonder if that jive turkey is actually just making the lives of Black Americans worse off by his actions. Respect goes a long way. That fella’s rant is lean on civil discourse and rich on histrionics.Rob wrote:I don't necessarily agree or disagree with what this guy was saying, but I do think people should watch a video like this before going off on how our "freedoms" are being taken from us. i am surprised at this point a counter-protest has not been organized and collided in a mass brawl
