you will. You are a dude with kids, I am not a dude, and have no kids. The universe is aligning, or something. I'm sure Eddie will write a song about it.

Damned by faint praise.
Yes, but your statement just says it's better than ST and backspacer.

Well, he is the father of young children now, so that may be rejuvenatingMike wrote:Just wanted to say that I still enjoy these songs a lot and that for some reason I imagine a younger Ed singing these songs. A weird mix of the old and young Ed especially in Getaway. The verses sound like the new Ed while the end of the song sounds so young. it would not be hard for riot act to be better than Riot Act or Binaural for me. A few 5 star songs and no trash and this is in the top half of the catalog for me.@SkitchP wrote:harmless wrote:What, Lightning Bolt? Yep. I found Backspacer very consistently *good*. If I found Lightning Bolt to be consistently *very good*, who knows where I'll put it?stip wrote:it would not be hard for riot act to be better than Riot Act or Binaural for me. I like all the songs we've heard so far. I don't know how many I'll be seeking out in 6 months time, but I won't be skipping them either. And I love MYM and Lightning Bolt. I don't know that either will be 5 stars in the long run, but then again I have no 5 star songs on No Code, Binaural, or Riot Act. A few come close.

What I miss in this discussion is how the fade-outs can be actually useful for this record. You will hear it when you have the whole album. Or not
. I know the quality is different, but at least I really liked how Getaway got into Mind Your Manners, but even more, Lightning Bolt into Infallible. And people who dismiss Future Days in advance, should really wait to hear the studio version and how it is different. Same for Sleeping By Myself. I am *so* looking forward to seeing the reactions that that one!

I feel like I will like this more than s/t and backspacer, but that's not saying much. LB and LTRP suck but they're more in the 'mostly forgettable with some awful moments' category than all the S/T and BS songs that were downright terrible. So unless the remaining songs are full of Fixers and Life Wasteds it's going to be the... best album since Riot Act indeed

This is not going to be better than binaural. Not unless the remaining songs are the greatest the band has ever written and therefore eclipse the meh its surrounded by.
