I don't really think he meant that it will BE a double album by the way. It will just feel like one.

I read double album somewhere, I'm sure of it.

I think Neon Bible changed my "creative life" more than any album since Ten.

The Suburbs I've listened to the most. But Neon Bible may be my favorite.

It always seemed to me that you could hit shuffle on their entire catalogue and everything blended beautifully together even on shuffle.
I think this record is gonna break that harmony.
Bloody bells n whistles.

Curse you James Murphy. Curse youuuuu

Na, 'course it won't. They all have different production values. Neon Bible has far more bells and whistles than Funeral.

Yeah, all of their albums have a fairly distinct sound. Neon Bible especially.

I was talking about the songs moreso. They all follow certain patters(4chord cycles in a lot of cases) and a written in a similar way over maybe 3 or 4 different types of songs.
Their left turn for me was always Neon Bible. They came back to their centre a lot with Suburbs and now seem to have shot left again. It'll be really interesting to see how these new songs work within their canon.

I think they'll basically be Arcade Fire songs with more disco / electro elements added by the influence of the producer. This guy's going to do a stupidly better job at it than BO'B, don't worry. I'm not sure if you saw the shitty audience recorded video of their latest gig, where they played some of the songs. You could hardly tell anything, but from what I could hear, they're basically still Arcade Fire songs. Disco is still 4/4.

I gave that a miss on purpose. Shitty recordings do not make for bet first impressions (lol)
But I am intrigued about the interviews they've been giving.

American folk music by way of disco and Caribbean music, was what one of them said.

Funnily enough, it used to be that they were categorised on iTunes as Baroque rock.
Always thought that was cool. Wonder if its still the case?

In the sense that 'Baroque' (I think) suggests excess, I think so.

But yeah, there was something I heard with a lot of congas and hand drums. Very groovy.

I hope Afterlife is about Flatliners and why David Fincher should remake it. But it probably won't be.
