I was listening to How the West Was Won in the car yesterday doing errands. Not only did I accomplish sitting through a 25 min Dazed and Confused, but also a 20 min Moby Dick - on the same disc.96583UP wrote:led zeppelin, achilles last stand
Actually, I had forgotten how how good they sounded live in their heyday. I am always distracted by the “doesn’t translate to bootleg” 15 min sojourns into excessive drum solos and bow guitar playing to remember that when they were firing away they were awesome.

The Stooges will always be number one to me. I guess this makes it beyond 'really like' in this case. Yeah they had some duds in The Weirdness, but the same old shtick Iggy writing has always been there as evident in their debut album and Fun House. I will always treat Asheton era different from the Williamson era.
The 2007 tour was a lot of fun and better than I ever imagined. I never thought I would have a chance to see them, especially with Mike Watt taking over for the departed Dave Alexander. I never did see the Iggy and the Stooges Raw Power reunion lineup. I don't feel too bad about that one, and of course the set list became somewhat questionable tossing in some post-Williamson Iggy tunes.
I still believe Watt was a better choice in the 2003-2008 lineup instead of the original idea of Jack White on bass guitar.

The mighty Weddo's. Weddings Parties Anything have always been a favourite band of mine. No point posting about them though as no fucker knows who I'm talking about when I do.
Trams pass me out on St. Kilda Road
Drizzle wet and slow, like thinking
Oh oh, take me down into Young and Jacksons
We'll do a bit of serious drinking
Lean on bar, hands in the pockets
Drain those glasses down like rockets
Call this history? But what could we ever really know
Of you, in your Roaring Days?

A public radio station around here is just wrapping up a Broken Arrow>Row Jimmy>Eternity>Liberty set from a ‘93 show and it’s really hitting the spot this early spring afternoon.washing machine wrote:Grateful Dead
What's there to say, really? A lot, I guess, considering their prolific live recording catalog. Still - I got nothing.

Foals. Maybe the last great rock band, but born too late.

Warren Zevon. Just listened to his live album Learning to Flinch. Splendid Isolation always sounded best here.
