I remember a few years ago, txting a buddy who defends all the Native nicknames (typical they are honoring them crap) when the Dodgers were eliminating the Braves from the playoffs. The dodgers broke out in a chop mocking the Braves... "so, how exactly is the chop honoring Native Americans right now?" and he legit told me "the Dodgers crowd are telling the Braves, good fight, you guys are Brave and Strong like Native Americans, we respect you"

We have a high school here in Wisconsin that still uses the Apaches for a nickname. The Apache, are a tribe from the Arizona / New Mexico area!
