That's a bit scary. Pink floyd is the most ego bloated pompous music possibly ever. Can't stand them. Hope it's not too noticeable if Pj have gone there.
Though these songs seem to have been crafted like Townshend/REM/Springsteen and done well so they will probably nail the PF vibe too.

I quite like the Floyd but I don't want a blatant rip off. 'Nothing As it Seems' (great) and 'Inside Job' (awful) are close enough to Floyd for me. They'll get closer to the Floyd 'vibe' with BOB's production, no doubt.

Caleb Followill said about the new song "Don't Matter" that it was inspired by QOTSA. It made me cringe to hear him deliberately compare the song to another band, but mostly I was cringing because PJ do that all the time and it's really horrible. You don't give away your secrets like that...

I tend to dislike when musicians do that. "We were trying to write a song in the vein of..." . 10+ points for candidness I guess, but -15 points for pulling the curtain back and demystifying the process.

Absolutely. PJ are the kings of this demystification and I'm sure nearly everything would've been less embarrassing and anger-inducing if they weren't.
