I'm not actively trying to get it, but I'm not willing to drastically alter my lifestyle long-term over something that amounts to a slightly-more-deadly version of the flu.spike wrote:Got any covid parties on the social calendar, macphisto?

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Yes; I was mildly sick with flu like symptoms for 4 days. A low fever peaking at 100.8 and a sporadic cough. Dull headache with zero energy, I slept mostly. July 4 was my first day symptom free. I got tested on the 6th at a drive up place and then again on the 9th, which was the earliest I could get an appointment. I got the second test results back with a couple days, that one was negative. It took eight days to get the earlier results from the test date; it came back DETECTED. By then I was over it.verb_to_trust wrote:Biff loves his social life. Was he symptomatic?E.H. I'm fine now and past the time the CDC recommends self isolation.

No, I mind my own business and just want to be left alone. Accosting strangers is never a good idea.Rob wrote:Aren't you the (male version of) Karen in this scenario?macphisto wrote:I haven’t been confronted yet about not wearing a mask, but I’m really looking forward to it.

He's only hurting people's feelings by not wearing a mask, so we should respect his choice. That's it, just feelings, nothing else.durdencommatyler wrote:"drastically"macphisto wrote:I'm not actively trying to get it, but I'm not willing to drastically alter my lifestyle long-term over something that amounts to a slightly-more-deadly version of the flu.spike wrote:Got any covid parties on the social calendar, macphisto?

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
Sure, that would be cheap insurance against a significantly more deadly threat. I was on board with flattening the curve to allow hospitals to ramp up ICU capacity. I stayed home as much as possible and wore a mask in public months ago, before it was mandated anywhere...in fact, the CDC was saying it wasn't necessary. I still put on a mask where required by law or store policy and don't make a scene.E.H. Ruddock wrote:Hey macphisto, not trying to make any point here, genuinely curious. If this disease were more deadly, say 25% death rate, would you be willing to wear a mask? Even if the evidence is what it is with COVID now, where some news says they don't work. I'm trying to understand if there is a line for some people or if it is genuinely about being told what to do and nothing more?
Where they started to lose me was when "flatten the curve" morphed into "cancel everything forever until there's a vaccine" and the virus became politicized. Kids need to be back in school, people need to be at work, and life needs to go on. I'm not going to live in fear.

Thank you for wearing a mask where you should.

IL cracked 40k tests run in the last 24 hours. Lot of 1k plus positive days lately. We're rolling back soon I bet.

Are you saying I should wear a mask to avoid confrontation, and that any resulting confrontation would be my fault?durdencommatyler wrote:All the more reason to wear a maskmacphisto wrote: Accosting strangers is never a good idea.
Or is not wearing a mask an act of violence in and of itself?

It's about more than masks. People out of work, businesses permanently closed, trips cancelled, concerts cancelled, schools closed, and social isolation becoming the new normal.durdencommatyler wrote:"drastically"macphisto wrote:I'm not actively trying to get it, but I'm not willing to drastically alter my lifestyle long-term over something that amounts to a slightly-more-deadly version of the flu.spike wrote:Got any covid parties on the social calendar, macphisto?
