Well, the hiss can't help. I'm just referring to the BO'B polish. There are some cheesy things added to LB, but when that begins to wear off and the song becomes more familiar, the dynamics and structure of the song begin to get awesome. Well, that's me anyway...

I canget past the BOB sheen, I like big pruduction actually...although I hope some of the supposed darker songs on the album also have more ragged edges (glory). I miss that feeling from Vs thru Yield where it feels like you are in the studio, with the count-in, or the sticks being dropped after the take, or some extra guitar noodling. For a band that loves Neil Young so much they certainly don't emulate his sound any more!

My fan review:

1) Getaway is the best song i heard in years. Its perfect for a TV performance in a Late Show. The music world must hear it cause staying as a song only known by CD buyer fans is a great loss.

2) LTRP is growing in me. Sounds like a lost jazzy brother of 1/2 Full, with the lost lyrics of a Johny Guitar's sister.

3) No feelings about Swallowed Whole yet. Yes, sounds like a Into the Wild song.

4) Lightning Bolt is weak song for PJ. The repeating chorus sounds too little for me. Its a great song for a weak band, but a weak song for a great band. At the end we can ear a piano, presumably the beginning of Infallible.

Didn't Neil go cheesy for a while in the 80s? It would seem they're having their 80s phase at the moment. But if you listen carefully there is a tiny bit of that background studio noise between the tracks...

Yeah, that's how it's been for me on LB. It also helps that the piano that I was so scared of ala Unthought Known isn't as bad as I thought it would be. In Unthought the piano is so loud and so in your face at the end of the song. Here in LB it is more subdued and more a part of the structure of the song and not sitting on top of it screaming in your face.

Yeah, that's how it's been for me on LB. It also helps that the piano that I was so scared of ala Unthought Known isn't as bad as I thought it would be. In Unthought the piano is so loud and so in your face at the end of the song. Here in LB it is more subdued and more a part of the structure of the song and not sitting on top of it screaming in your face.

Yep, and I think the chords are quite nice actually.

I love that kind of stuff too. It suited the laid back aspect of the band. Course I love binaural too but yeah.

On my left shoulder blade I have a labyrinth design, surrounded on one side by some Polynesian on my shoulder which goes into the No Code "5 Elements" down the bicep (with more polynesian around it). On the inside of my forearm I have a trinity symbol with Japanese-style waves below it. On the inside of my forearm I've got a Celtic cross-shaped labyrinth which has the Vitalogy "vinyl" symbol in the centre of the cross to replace the normal circle. Everything in black and white. Basically it's all religious / hippy symbols rather than pictorial stuff, so a lightning bolt also designed by myself, using inspiration from the Don Pendleton art work wouldn't be out of place at all. I have space on the top of my forearm.

It's a great song, but I ranked it below the other 3. But that makes it sound like it's bad, when it's definitely not.

Different ones are my favourite at different times. But overall, it's my second favourite. My favourite is Swallowed Whole. LB is my third favourite, then LTRP is on the bottom of the pile (I still like it).
