Health departments do things that aren't COVID, and they types of COVID tests have no impact on my work.

Maybe not, but you should at least know the difference between what nasal and nasopharyngeal mean.

Surprisingly, that has not yet come up in 15 years of auditing the proper storage and handling of refrigerated biologicals.

For people who lived with infected older children, 18.6 percent tested positive for the virus within about 10 days after the initial case was detected — the highest rate of transmission among the age groups studied. Children under the age of 10 spread the virus at the lowest rate, though researchers warned that the figure may have been impacted by school closures and could change when they reopen.

Agreed, but “technically, we might not know a thing about infection rates” is also not an argument in favor of reopening schools.

Yeah. It’s hopeful, but it’s also phase one testing. A phase 2 clinical trial for a vaccine averages about two years. This one will be significantly expedited, but some aspects of that process simply cannot be shortened. So let’s be realllllly generous and hopeful, and say that this is our future vaccine and it’s got a 6 month journey left to approval. At that point, you still have the months and months it takes to manufacture and deliver. And also the president is currently trying to gut federal funding for vaccine delivery.

It’s hopeful for the second half of 2021 (if we’re still being generous and hopeful), but no vaccine is going to fix the stubborn mistakes we make today.

That's not true. Astrazeneca or whatever is involved. They are already producing this thing. I realize none of this stuff gets headlines because it's not scary but it's pretty disappointing nobody seems to have a clue.
