All the graphs from April were so super accurate here
Not sure if sarcasm, but over here they were extremely accurate.

This is why we need separate threads.

The problem is that models are built by taking known data (the observed infection rates/behaviors/chronology thus far) and applying them to hypotheticals. Because the people constructing the models are intelligent, scientifically-minded folk, they failed to predict how incredibly stupid people in our nation can be.

Our April prediction models were all “Here’s the predicted range of outcomes based on staying shut down until June and people wearing masks.” So we voided them almost immediately.

Useful context for us to have: Israel’s school-started outbreak came after a period of time where they stopped mandating masks for school kids because of the heat.

I have a small amount of morbid pride that NC has a lot fewer deaths than other states with similar rates of disease.

MA: 114K cases, 8,500 deaths
PA: 108K cases, 7,100 deaths
NC: 105K cases, 1,700 deaths
LA: 99K cases, 3,700 deaths
MI: 84K deaths, 6,400 deaths

North Carolina didn’t crack a thousand cases a day until roughly the start of June.

For Pennsylvania, that happened in mid April.
The rest of those states broke a thousand daily back in *March*.

Your deaths are lagging behind those states at least in part because your case load lags so far behind. But we *have* gotten better at treating some of the deadlier symptoms, so hopefully the death count doesn’t climb as sharply as it did for them.

It's all timing. Those other states got hit first. NC is lucky I bet there's a huge population of fat fucks down there. Good they weren't first in line.
