I can make sense of they will and wont and I've heard it both ways so this will be a mystery until the liner notes , for me
I feel 99% certain that it is "dig".

It's "dig." You can clearly hear Ed pronounce the "g" at the end pretty hard.

He says 'you're' though, not 'you'. "And then you're dig?"

"LIGHTNING BOLT"

she come on like a stone
but you don't know where from she was thrown
like a burning meteor
from miles high

looking for a place to land
She said have you got yourself some sand
And whatever you replied she took as yes

Now she comes after me
With her newly planted seeds
And soon you're thrown down on your knees
And then you dig
And then before you know
the weeds are obesely overgrown
With the all the wild seeds she sows
in your sleep

you gotta know you'll never let her go
she's a lightning bolt
lightning bolt
lightning bolt

Always something and never nothing
isn't that the way we're taught to be, to be
flipping through the worn out pages
and stages when you knew not who to be
until the lightning strike sets you free

you gotta know you'll never let her go
She's a lightning bolt
lightning bolt
lightning bolt

crashing stormy waves
erode her shoreline every day
until the castle of her ways turns to sand

she holds her love in breast
as her birds fall from the nest
flying towards the great northwest (yeah, yeah, yeah)

And with no repair in sight there is
No God with such might
As to open her world wide with subterfuge
And your death will soon arrive
As she finally decides
That all her problems, they won’t die with you

never let her go
Shes your lightning bolt
never let her go
She's true

she's your rock and roll
she's a lightning bolt
uncontrollable
like you
shouldn't it be LOVING breast, not love in breast?
Yeah I think it's "loving", as in "nurturing".
could be. both work.

You know, sometimes ed pronounced 'th' as a 'd' noise. This has nothing to do with the lyrics at hand but close enough.

flying towards the great northwest (yeah, yeah, yeah)

i was hoping that he was saying something else other than '"yeah, yeah, yeah" there, but it doesn't seem like it..

It sounds like "And your girlfriend soon arrives and she suddenly decides that all her problems...".

i like how mike's solo comes in on the 'she's your rock and roll' line during the outro. that's exactly the kind of unselfconscious celebratory decision that should be made in a song like this.

Yeah it's beautiful that.

I've also become a big fan of the teeth on the guitars during the intro--much more engaging than UK.

Could live without the fade-out at the end but I overall I like it. Seems cut from the same cloth as Love Boat Captain and Unthought Known but whatever.

I don't really get the comparisons with these three songs, aside from the fact they each start with a muted guitar track. LB has a chorus for one thing, which UK really doesn't. At the least, none of them really evoke similar feelings, at least to my ear.

similar 'joyful' songs, although I think LB captures this the best

They're representative of latter-day Pearl Jam's reliance on ebb and flow outside of a more traditional verse/chorus dynamic. Swallowed Whole does this, too, but maybe doesn't try and use it in such a distinctive way.

Does LB have a traditional song structure?
