The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has revealed in a court filing that it is investigating Pres. Trump and the Trump Organization for ‘alleged bank and insurance fraud.’ Manhattan DA Cy Vance is subpoenaing an accounting firm for eight years of the organization’s tax returns, demanding it complies by citing reports of 'possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.’

Trump’s lawyers are arguing that the subpoena is in ‘bad faith,’ though Vance has called this a ‘baseless’ argument. The judge overseeing the case, U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero, ruled against Trump just last year and has scheduled arguments to be submitted by mid-August. This follows last month’s Supreme Court decision ruling against Trump’s assertion that he cannot be criminally investigated while in office.

Cy Vance is independently elected as the District Attorney for New York County. The federal government has no jurisdiction concerning his work or his career.

Oh and if he is ultimately convicted of a state crime prosecuted in New York courts, the pardoning power belongs to Cuomo.
