this probably belongs in the random food thoughts thread, but oh well.

there are very few things food wise that are as satisfying to me than pulling the entire silverskin off pork ribs in one pull without tearing it. i love it.

I’m picking out a big green egg this weekend for my birthday. Any advice, friends?

Yes, get a Kamado Joe instead.

It has a slow roller that you can use for smoking, a better rain cap, more upgrades, and is easier to clean. I went to buy a Big Green Egg at Abt about 6 months ago and wondered where they were when I got there. The guy said that they stopped carrying them when they weren’t selling compared to the Kamado Joe. I had never heard of the latter before, did some research, and found they got just as good or better ratings than the BGE.

The BGE is great. But for the money, I went with the Kamado Joe because of the reasons I mentioned.

Went with the large! Overall room, plus the EGGspander doesn’t fit in the medium, and that optionality seems clutch. Should have it by end of the coming week.
