Yeah. Beenie Weenies are gross, too. Chili Weenies, however...
don't think i'm familiar with those

did you grow up in TN?
I did. They were in a yellow can while Beenie Weenies were in a red/orange can.

My other motivation for this thread was months back when we were stocking up the pantry at the beginning of COVID. I took my time in the canned goods aisles at the store and saw many of the things on my list that I hadn't eaten in years, but was reminded of them while browsing. I did buy a few of those things and they are still doing in the pantry.

I do eat a can of herring or sardines probably once a week, though.

Whoever said zattarains knows what's up.

Spam is a staple in the house. Anytime we cook a rice dish for dinner, the leftover rice gets mixed in with spam and veggies for breakfast the next AM (topped with fried egg.)

A pantry always needs a few cans of corned beef hash too.

I'll always sneak a can of anchovies or sardines in the cart when shopping. My wife turns her nose up at that stuff.

Lots more i'm sure. I need to read thru this thread. I doubt any of my contributions are new.

Shin Bowl brand ramen is fucking amazing too. NEVER skip it for Top Ramen or Cup Noodles if it's available in your store.

Heavier on spice and flavor, for sure.

I can't think of anything in a can or box that I truly "enjoy." It's not like I'm against packaged foods, but they tend to be a convenience food. Nothing to write home about.

Oh, does the Trader Joe's dips count? I love these:

at least a couple of people have mentioned boxed mac and cheese, which is the right call. I can remember using the powdered cheese from kraft boxes to give popcorn over the stovetop a nice dusting.
