Try to sell me on Kamala.

She’s a very experienced and well known political figure with a long track record on which to gauge her would be public actions. She’s got a diverse background from her parents, Indian and Jamaican who were themselves civic minded. She’s well educated, and going to Howard provided a broader world to draw from than just California. She’s had public mistakes as a prosecutor, but in general when you examine her actions, they seem to indicate a sense of compassion, at least to me. She’s obviously anti death penalty. To me there’s much more to like about her than Biden. She’s clearly ambitious, with that comes some sketchy moral decisions that dog any candidate but making decisions creates friends and enemies.

I guess TLDR, She’s experienced enough to know how it all works, smart enough to target some effective change, ambitious enough to get the job and compassionate enough to care about the people she would be governing.

She’s a lawyer so she clearly enjoys arguing, but I think if given enough air time she can probably win a lot of arguments.

Why Biden, was the pick, I don’t really understand.

These are all good characteristics, but this ticket does nothing to address the issues that are driving the more liberal arm of the Dems. And I’m not limping myself in with that arm, just acknowledging they have a pretty well defined wishlist that Team Moderate is never going to address.

My turn could change based on potential cabinet noms, but I see Biden/Harris as being well equipped to get things back to the way they once were...which was pretty messed up to begin with.

Depending on what you want changed there’s a lot of latitude in the cabinet, and presidents lately have seemingly freely governed by executive order without Congress or the Courts doing much about it.

I think the worst thing with Kamala is that she's not particularly popular or well-liked, not only with the progressive wing but also more centrist Dems (where she was passed over in favor of Pete, Biden, AND Amy), but will now be the de-facto standard bearer for 2024 when Biden is presumably dead, which doesn't bode well. Otherwise, what is there to say? By far the most boring and expected choice, she's a pretty standard corporate Dem, a younger, less-white face on basically the same policies and broader philosophical approach to governance as Biden. It's telling that Electromagnetic wasn't able to name any clear thing that Kamala supports, any policy she champions, so much as her personal ambition and public performance. It's fine--it won't do anything to the election one way or another--but I can't imagine being particularly excited about it if you're not already excited about Biden (or, I suppose, a woman/POC for whom group representation is important).

I think those people were deluded, but it does confirm that the Biden campaign feels basically zero pressure to reach out to the anti-Wall Street, pro-M4A wing of the party, and so I don't expect we'll see many Sanders or Warren allies in the cabinet.

Kamala is a great choice. She is very intelligent, quick on her feet and doesn't seem to have a major flaw except for lack of political experience.
