Can you point me to the political songs on Backspacer?

I said about 2 or 3 on most albums are political. I don't see it on Backspacer at all, which to me, may be one reason why I like Backspacer.

"Got Some" is political, and so are lines from "Supersonic" inadvertently political, or I read them that way anyway.

Got Some borrows imagery and phrase from politics.

You also said there was nothing political on this upcoming album, yet I hear political leaning lyrics on just about every song we have heard from LB. I'm starting to question your sanity.

I could be swayed on Got Some. Not a chance on Supersonic. Anyway, what "political" is got some about then?

Mind Your Manners is as political as any song they've written that's not called Bushleaguer.

Backspacer didn't really have any politics on it, but I'm pretty sure that was a self-conscious decision on their part, to put their aim on topics they hadn't written about in a while.

well, The fixer was released around the time Obama got into office...a lot of people thought it was about him too. It isnt and eddie himself told a different story, but i can see it as a political song too, like mind your manners is a political song.
My point is: Ed writes from a socio-political point of view most of the times. Even if he is clearly making a point ( wws/bushleaguer) or if the whole point is more subtext oriented.
He was more direct with his lyrics during the bush administration, perhaps because he felt it was worse than this one or the previous Clinton one...or because he felt he needed to be as direct as he could to get the message out there.

You do, how so? Maybe our thoughts on the term "political" are different. I think LB has a lot of religious messages. I hear no political messages whatsoever.

I'm not going to spoonfeed you, you can Google the lyrics. If I have to explain what those lines are about you need to resit Kindergaarten.

Supersonic has two or three lines you could take as metaphor around putting a ballot slip in a ballot box.

Backspacer was a light album that Ed wanted to be care-free and enjoyable, for the most part. So there isn't much politics, but he slips it in at points.

Nah, I don't see The Fixer as a political song. I know that Ed writes from a socio-political POV. That's kinda my point.

Also, I don't see a need for everyone to constantly harp on Bushleaguer as their political song. Look at Evenflow or Glorified G for other examples.

It's a brief use of simple political metaphor inadvertently betraying Ed's stance about war and democracy. So it counts, dammit.

I'd go a long with that. It is a fun record. Got Some is definitely political in its make-up, never thought Supersonic was, in the slightest.

What the actual fuck? You mean to say that Evenflow is political but Mind Your Manners isn't?

You can't spoonfeed me because the song's "message" is not political. It uses a few terms that are often used in political discourse, but the message is not political. If it is, prove otherwise.

Supersonic is not even remotely political and you're reaching to try to say it is.
