Not at all impressed w/ Alive & Even Flow at first, actually ragged on them at the time. Then Jeremy hit it big & I really liked it but still didn't buy Ten. I was at a friend of mine's and he was cleaning up his room and held up the cassette and said "this is a really good tape, not a bad song on it". On his advice I bought it and never looked back.

Had almost the exact same experience. Freaky.

No shit? Fascinating. I'm honestly in awe of anyone who discovered pj after Vitalogy. They were, in my experience, so easy to fall in love with when they were new and raw. I love Faithfull, and I love NAIS, but I'm pretty sure that love springs from an appreciaton of everything that came before them.

BTW, is in reference to your sig, is Thodoks really dead? Despite my relatively low post count, I'm on the board quite a lot, but given the very real loss of at least one member several years ago and Thodoks once Chud-like presence, I don't know if I should be sad or expecting his return.

Seriously? Do tell!

I mean I love that song but interesting that it took a relatively deep cut to pull you in.

By the way, "seriously" is actually a serious question b/c ever since I learned that people have multiple usernames ( i was so naive!), I'm not sure if I'm hearing a real person or experience, or the opinions of some character someone has made up. I kinda don't like that. Is there at least some honesty behind the personae? But I digress...

I'm also suprised there have been no smart ass riffs on the title of the thread. I thought it would draw more attention. Thanks knee tunes for the props. You used to be someone else, right?

What kinda stuff were you listening to before faithfull got you hooked?

Not Pearl Jam.

I was strictly a classic rock guy at that point. My friend had tried to make me listen to Pearl Jam a lot, and then used Given To Fly to try and convince me given my love of Zeppelin. Obviously I heard the similarities, but it didn't do much for me initially. But he kept forcing me to listen to the album, and it (still does actually) had a classic rock feel I kinda got into. It was actually the Brain of J/Faithfull/No Way opening that really hooked me, but Faithfull is the one that really stood out.

That is an amazing opening set. Im always interested in hearing about people getting into PJ later on in the catalog. Were you able to get into the first 4 albums pretty easy after yield brought you in?

Ten and Vitalogy very easily. No Code somewhat. I honestly have never gotten that into Vs. I've maybe listened to Vs. 5 times all the way through- ever. Every time I have I say "man, i like Vs. more than I thought" and then never have the urge to listen to it. For me the gap between my top 3 (Vitalogy/Yield/Binaural) and the rest of the catalog is pretty huge.

Even though vs is pretty low on my list, i love that album, though it could be because it was their first that i got the day it came out, but it is a great collection of songs
