Project Power. Bizarre movie. Serious Joel Schumacher energy. Can't help admiring some of the WTFness of it all (that nightclub scene particularly) but overall kind of bad.

Terri. It was sweet! Kind of boilerplate indie coming-of-age fare but it feels real and it resonates. The cast elevates it. I love John C. Reilly.

Here is my current Christopher Guest ranking after watching all with Raz, and I think she'd agree:

1. Best in Show is best in show because the cuteness and feel good ending take it over the top.
2. Mighty Wind also has a feel good factor and is a good all around movie.
3. Waiting for Guffman is really good but doesn't know much what to do after the play. Doesn't end great.
4. For Your Consideration was pretty good until the latter third or so when it got super dark.

What makes his movies good, IMO, is the combination of heart, quirkiness, dark comedy, fun. For Your Consideration lacked the heart of the other three and was bitter to our buds, didn't go down well. Looks like my rankings are in line with RM Hive Mind. Guess you guys aren't so bad afterall.

Actually Mascots is also a Guest film that should be on the list. Has anyone seen Mascots?

It's funny how some loved filmmakers/writers have movies fans don't really consider when discussing or thinking about their catalog's. Like Charlie Kaufman and that one jewel thief movie.

Guys, can you recommend a good movie to watch tonight with Raz? I'm off tomorrow and need a good movie tonight. She's been in a fall decorating mood and craves a good horror movie. Can you recommend a good horror movie we haven't seen or haven't seen in a long time? If not horror, that's fine too. But it needs to be good.

I'm more into the "truly" horrific stuff, like the feeling of going crazy done really well, like Babadook. Raz has a hard time with this kind of movie because of the level of horror, but if in the right mood it is a lot of fun, like a roller coaster, grabbing my leg and screaming and stuff. She's really more into campy, fun horror, maybe even more like fun thrill rides. She liked the Goonies a lot the other night. First time seeing it for her. Maybe we can find a happy medium in something tonight.

Did you watch the 2017 It film? That's sort of in the spirit of Goonies. Scarier but not super scary; very fun, stylishly shot, and with a heart

Yes and we both enjoyed it. Great recommendation. I think it's too soon for a second viewing, though. Is part II worth a go?

I loved Chapter 2 but it was very divisive. It's darker and weirder than the first

And, weirdly, a lot more emotional

It still really bothers me that Catherine O'Hara's organs are on the wrong side of her body. I can't look at her without thinking "freak" now.

Wreck-It Ralph.

Totally was not expecting the autism acceptance theme, really like how they snuck that in there.

I started watching Troy because it's on HBO max, but I gave up after about 10 minutes. Hard to believe that you could execute such a timeless story that poorly. It's got a great cast that it makes look average with video game level dialogue.
