Thanks for the contribution. Weird that you're the one posting David French.

I tend to agree that open carry protests are not a great idea.

French's criticism assumes that local authorities are doing their best to maintain order and allow multiple viewpoints free expression.

We've seen the failure of the former most recently, but the failure of the latter has been on display for several years now. Trump rallies in nominally blue areas tended to end up with Trump supporters getting funneled into counterprotesters where they get harassed and assaulted, despite alternate egress options available to police (San Jose, Charlottesville, DC after the RNC, etc)

David French has no response to diversity of tactics employed by the left. Open carry at least attempts to address this, despite its downsides.
