I hate it less the longer I sit with it, but it was not a good movie.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Genuinely shocked at the expectations you all had for a Charlie Kaufman movie

i was interested because the book was awesome and thought he could do a good job with the material. But nope.

Haven't watched one of his films since Synecdoche, but he's a good filmmaker. The things that suck about this are his typical self indulgences, but they're cranked up to 11.

I think his indulgences are fine. It’s his acerbic take on characters and their relationship that I don’t like.

Imagine a movie where a hidden door could put you inside John Malkovich’s head for a couple minutes.

Now imagine if that movie was actually fun!

Wow, I had a totally different read. I wish this movie was more acerbic, if it would mean fewer conversations about David Foster Wallace.
