I also loved Synecdoche NY. It's been a long time since I watched Adaptation or Eternal Sunshine but those movies meant a lot to me at one point. I'll watch I'm Thinking of Ending Things soon

Yea, i was a huge fan of Eternal SUnshine. That was kind of a life saving movie for me at the time. I also really loved Adaptation but I haven't really followed his career since these two movies.

This new one is creating quite the hoopla though so I feel I should watch it so that i can be part of the conversation.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I saw it when I was like 17 so it felt important to me but Eternal Sunshine is most likely a very bad movie. Adaptation is unquestionably great.

I watched the movie. I really liked it, but I also hated it. And I didn't get it. I thought it was the kind of movie that might stick in my head and I'd be reading about it for a week, but I read an explainer and an interview last night and that's enough. Ultimately, I don't need this movie in my life but it had elements and moments that I liked. I would not be surprised to discover that VG is right and that the book is better

Finished Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door last night and as the credits began to roll I could only note that the reality was far worse than the dramatization, felt pretty unsettled for a bit.
