when my gardenias were failing, there was definitely an apex breaking point one afternoon involving me aggressively digging up, replacing soil, and adding epsom salt

as though my life depended on it

if anyone has any advice on small evergreen shrubs that can survive a cold winter, i am all ears

not boxwoods though, those are too bleh

i have a few african boxwoods that have done well for years but we don't have a cold climate..

yeah it's tough i am starting to think some kind of cactus

this spot bakes in the sun in the summer... and will need to be able to tolerate occasional freezing balls winter

Our water heater is definitely not long for this world. But not technically failing yet, unfortunately.

I've never been much of a power tool guy, but I held a Sawzall at Fleet Farm yesterday and felt like a Space Marine. Now I need one.

make sure you give a nice mulch cover over the base of them, plus a couple of options:

* cover them with burlap before winter hits + cross your fingers
* spray them with an anti-dessicant spray before winter + cross your fingers

Well, great. Now my hot water heater is working. Thursday night i couldnt light the pilot. I tried again yesterday and it worked but didnt get hot water until this morning.

So, the thing is 15 years old, and ive been dealing with poor hot water pressure for a long time. Its only a matter of time before it completely fails and im wondering if I should just go ahead with the replacement and installation before its winter time.

I hung a pegboard in the garage yesterday. 1 hour project turned into 4 hours and 3 trips to the hardware store.

i ordered some gem box hollies. we'll see if they can handle it
