Because I play the drums, so for me the rhythm section has always been the key into any song, or any band, for me. That doesn't mean that a song *has* to have either, many of my favourite songs don't have a strong rhythm and aren't meant to, but the rhythm section definitely hooked me onto this band during the Dave A. days. The way the bass and drums were always mixed very high up in the mix. When Jack joined, he had a looser groove and wasn't so metallic and that wasn't really my thing, but I grew to love it and other 'looser' bands as well. Matt isn't my favourite drummer by any stretch but he's good enough. So anyway, yeah, I get hooked on songs from the bottom up.unLEASHed wrote:I'm curious why do you think Jeff has done more then the other musicians?? Yeah but that's at least derivative of Star Wars. This is not derivative of Pearl Jam if my ears are hearing correctly.Strat wrote:its like...

There is a lyric in LTRP that stood out to me
i’ve been down and I fell so hard and far from grace
Boy, is that spot on

Yes it's not what they normally would have done, but hell, the fact that they did this, and did it well.....it's great. I'd take a flaming from this entire board, and still be very comfortable with this song.
I feel better hearing opinions like this on it.
I'm not afraid to love what goes against the grain for others.......life is WAY too short.

It's the equivalent of Nirvana surviving and Kurt Cobain writing Slide instead of the Goo Goo Dolls.Strat wrote:its like...

This is the one Pearl Jam song that I have heard that will take me a bit to get used to. Its growing on me, though.

Right now it's pretty bad. When I made my first "Its cheesy but I like it post" I only heard the first verse and then that chorus came. I need to listen to it more but right now I don't really want to.harmless wrote:Is that good or bad?Mike wrote:This song makes me feel uncomfortable.
