I really like it. But not only do I really like it, I really like it even more for being track four, and giving this album a completely mental all-over-the-pace feel.

Remember when Kurt Cobain said Pearl Jam sounded like Poison? This was what he was talking about.

How much is your reaction about the fact that it's "bad", and how much is it that it's just a total left-turn? Actually this is most definitely a right turn, but you get my point. If after 23 years they wanted to do something brand-new, a lot of things would get the "This is not Pearl Jam" reaction. At the very least, even if I ended up hating it, they've committed to a completely different type of song and it succeeds at being exactly what it is.

Whatever it is.
Man if i wanted to listen to the googoo dolls or the calling or someshit i would. It succeeds at being a strangely dated power ballad. I was open to an 80s power ballad, for them to purple rain my ass, but no. I'm not even pissed i'm just confused as to why they wanted to make a straight radio rock pop tune, where's the creativity? This just tells me that without eddie and his 'lets fuck with people and make it interesting', they would've been making this shit from day one, and now that he's on board there's no stopping em.

PINK! it also sounds like Pink.

I hope Josh Homme fucked eddie in the ass over this
Josh homme probably patted him on the head and said 'that's nice eddie' before going home to make some decent music. Mark arm now he'd tell you how he really feels.

I'll stop complaining now. Ain't the end of the world and so on.

I think this is more Springsteen-like than anything else.

Some will probably hate it, and I can admit that my present life circumstances make me susceptible to something like this, but I really like everything about the line "the fear goes away."

Yes. I was just about to say that I think the No. 4 slot is the perfect place for this.

Me too. But still, the same lazy references will keep popping up.

Hasn't PJ always had cheesy songs?

Ten-none
VS-Golirified G, maybe Rats
Vitalogy-Bugs
No Code-Mankind(enough said)
Yield-none that I can think of
Binaural-Soon Forget
Riot Act-BushLeaguer
S/t-Big Wave, Inside Job
Backspacer-The Fixer, Johnny Guitar,Supersonic, Speed of Sound...that's a lot on BS

While I haven't hear Sirens yet, PJ has done cheesy quiet well over their career...Am I missing any?

It's very 80s.

I could listen to this on a rainy day with a cup of tea and a biscuit.
