I think they’re way off base but as long as they do it peacefully they are within their rights.

I get the difference, and I also get the difference between what is real and imagined. Intimidation requires more than presence. Peaceful protesters are intimidating in the same ways a black man is intimidating to a cop. It is quite possible harm is meant but odds are extremely in your favour you are entirely safe.
I would be very comfortable with large bubble zones created around polling stations.

We've had local campaigns ask us to put up yard signs because we're just over 100 yds from a (former) polling place.
