I recently started a full discog listen to Stevie Wonder. I'd previously only had a greatest hits (The definitive...) and that was more than enough. Now I can safely say that it is more than enough.

I'm through to Innervisions and there may only be a handful of tracks that I'd play again that are not on the hits collections. I want more loose funk jams but not what he delivers.

This man's output is frustrating to me.

I love Innervisions - would probably rank that as my top Stevie album

Early UB40 is rock solid. I count File/Signing Off and Present Arms as among the best reggae albums. Labour of Love (with Red, Red Wine) did a lot to bring reggae back to the forefront after Bob Marley's death.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Which songs? I only know the big hits which I think are all covers... "Kingston Town" is nice

Wow there's a still-active UB40 message board, and they have their own GD

UB40's popularity was probably only possible due to Columbia House and other of those buy 13 for a penny cd deals. It made Bob Marley's Legend a must have cd, and was probably the first introduction to reggae for the average listener. UB40 comes along with stripped down arrangements (they were not good musicians early on) and an amazing vocalist in Ali Campbell. What Hall & Oates was to blue eyed soul and soul, UB40 was that to reggae.

That said, their early output is stellar. I would suggest the following;

Signing Off/File (title depends where you live)
- Tyler,
- King,
- Burden of Shame,
- Food For Thought,
- Strange Fruit,
- Madame Medussa,
- My Way of Thinking (12" version),
- I Think It's Going To Rain Today (12" version),
- Earth Dies Screaming (12" versions)

Present Arms
- Sardonicus,
- Don't Let It Pass You By,
- One In Ten

Present Arms In Dub
- Nothing great but if you enjoy dub, put this on and go with the flow

UB40 Live
- Seriously, the whole album. This is the most overlooked album when great live albums are ranked.

Labour of Love
- Cherry Oh, Baby
- Keep On Moving,
- Please Don't Make Me Cry,
- Johnny Too bad,
- Red, Red Wine,
- Many Rivers To Cross

The above five is the essential UB40 for me. After this it gets more hit and miss but still generally good up until 1988's self titled album. After that, it is generally a big mess with a few good songs and covers. Songs to explore;

- Hip Hip Lyrical Robot,
- I Got You Babe,
- Rat In Mi Kitchen,
- Where Did I Go Wrong,
- Here I Am/Small Axe,
- The Way You Do The Things You Do
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
