I will never understand why this moron country decided to reverse the political color spectrum of the rest of the world, where a "red wave" is a good thing.

Every Democrat had better say the words "seven hundred and fifty dollars" in front of a microphone at least 3 times every day for the next 5 weeks.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

This is mystical, messianic thinking. It is not going to be a 47% moment.

I'm too dumb to understand your post, but I pay a lot more than $750 every year.

I paid literally double that this year as a graduate student, but I just don't think this moves the needle. The whole idea of Trump is that he's a good business man. Republican talking points for years have emphasized that you can't raise taxes because the rich will just find ways out of them. Trump found ways out of his taxes, ergo he's both good at business and wholly in line with Republican values.

If he eventually passes the audit, then the issue is with the people who enacted or kept in place the rules that allowed for the tax scheme used to be available. People like Sanders, Pelosi, Biden. Many more to blame and on all sides but going after someone for possibly following the rules is kind of dumb.

I don't think you can blame Independent Senator Bernie Sanders for the entire US tax code, but yes, the Democrats as the party of "happy capital" have aided and abetted this for decades.

I feel like $750 is tangible and means something to people in a way that "didn't pay any taxes" doesn't.

We all know what we pay in taxes. Mickey immediately does that math. That number is going to be exactly what someone pays in rent or food or school loans or something. You immediately want to know why you have to pay so much more than Trump.

Beat that fucking drum.

Sander's has been part of elected governments for long enough that he has to shoulder some blame. To me, they are all complicit to some extent.

Sanders just pissed me off when he went off on a big name CEO a year or so ago regarding taxes paid. Taxes absolutely legally paid. Old man, change the system or get out.

Sure, Trump paid less in taxes last year than two weeks of my mortgage. But again, who is this going to convince? The right has been beating the "taxes are bad" drum of their own for decades, all of their followers think tax avoidance is good and crafty--it's temporarily embarrassed millionaire shit, "if I ran a business I'd want to avoid taxes too!" And how many independents out there for whom tax avoidance is the make or break issue? Beat the drum all you want but I don't think this is going to change anything.

The mistake it to tackle these items one at a time. In the last month, he’s been exposed of denigrating military personnel (losers and suckers for the soldiers, conflicted in interest for the generals), exposed as purposefully lying about the pandemic for political reasons, and now having lied about his entire image. Taken together, the drum beat needs to be he is a soulless empty vessel that sucks off people’s willingness to buy the snake oil - his uncanny ability to create a cult around himself. That’s it.

Around here (Southwestern Illinois/Southeastern Missouri) I've been seeing way too many Trump signs in yards and flags on trucks, etc. and literally 0 Biden SWAG. WTF is going on. I work in a town that heavily supports unions. All the good jobs are union jobs, which to me would probably mean the people at least lean left. It's as if Biden supporters are just staying quiet or he has 0 support. I have no idea how people have been conned into Trumps BS. I kind of get how they fell for him the first time, but after 4 years you would think they would have caught on by now! I guess people are way stupider than I previously thought.

Well also Democrats abandoned union votes for suburban votes almost thirty years ago. At least Trump offers ideological compensation by destroying and humiliating their perceived enemies.

People just aren't that enthusiastic about Biden. Most people I know are voting against Trump, not for Biden.
