yes, there's cheese abound, especially lyrically. but the fact that the guy in the song is facing possible death gives it a little more weight.

and the fact that his lady-friend's face makes his fear go away, well, that's pretty sweet.
then cut to a dude with teased and hairsprayed hair laying down an epic solo in the rain. the power of rawk!

i'm starting to like this song. certainly the 2nd half of it.
I think the cheese is earned, personally, but then I wouldn't be into this band if I didn't feel that about most of their successful songs.

Ed's voice is too subdued to make it Bon Jovi.

nope, based on all of you guys reactions, like, you know, when you're using descriptors such as 'Take That', 'Kelly Clarkson', 'Springsteen', 'romantic comedy song', 'radio hit', actually that stuff is way more scary than what strat or McP have said
To be fair, remember what forum this is.

Well by the looks of it it's a forum where this song is actually mostly well-received, so... yeah, definitely scary. And now that "Eurovision contest" can be added to that list we're entering horror movie territory.

welp, it's an 80s power ballad. that is exactly what it is. It would be impossible to describe this song more clearly than that

first listen was underwhelming. Not a bad song. But not an interesting song or a compelling song either. Definitely the thing I've liked the least on first listen so far.

Lets see about number 2

I had the same reaction. Somewhere around listen 3 or 4 the loins began to stir.

Stip I hated it first time. By the third listen it became my favourite pearl jam song of the last ten years
