Re: Election 2020
Yeah, so he can simultaneously state he doesn't support the Green New Deal in the debate, and then on the other hand claim it's a crucial framework to his proposal on his website. This is the kind of thing Trump's people are salivating over to distract themselves from all of Trump's errors and misdeeds. Always on the attack, never actually defending the buffoon.

Did anyone else find it curious that Trump's response to what can you do for the black community was, "cops endorse me, I want to send in the national guard!"

Not at all. Typical Trump revving up his base. Protesters (blacks) vs. cops.

Re: Election 2020
It's just striking how this entire thing, and particularly how Trump is operating, is just exactly the same thing as in 2016, down to the poll deficit, the playacting about not respecting the results of the election, trying to overtake the debates, everything he's doing is exactly the same. Maybe I'll be wrong, but it's hard to see how that exact same play works when everyone's mind is made up and the country is inarguably in worse shape.

Re: Election 2020
My brain is slowly remembering what I watched last night, so my next random thought is:
Not that we would have heard him if he did say it, but why didn't Biden point out that the "roaring back" and "booming" of the economy & unemployed is just trying to get us back out of the hole we were in by Trump's mismanagement of the pandemic response? We're not doing great, we're suffering less than we were a couple months ago, and still worse off than we should be if we had science based leadership.

Re: Election 2020
This isn't entirely accurate. You can roll back the 538 polling average and see that Clinton was ahead nationally on September 30th by 3% (43.5 vs. 40.4). Today, Biden is up 50.5 vs. 42.9--that's a 7.5% lead. That difference isn't insignificant, and the national polls did not miss by much in 2016 (although some state polls did).digster wrote:It's just striking how this entire thing, and particularly how Trump is operating, is just exactly the same thing as in 2016, down to the poll deficit, the playacting about not respecting the results of the election, trying to overtake the debates, everything he's doing is exactly the same. Re: Election 2020
Yes, that's true - I should have probably pointed to Trump being behind in polling being similar, rather than the size of the deficit. That, the fewer amount of undecided voters, and the possibility that some state polling learned from its mistakes make this different than 2016.Simple Torture wrote:This isn't entirely accurate. Also no major third party candidates. Johnson was hanging around 8% in national polls on 9/30, and only finished just above 3% when the votes were actually counted.digster wrote:Yes, that's true - I should have probably pointed to Trump being behind in polling being similar, rather than the size of the deficit. Re: Election 2020
Different channels had different camera angles. I was watching ABC I think , which had a split screen of both candidates and the very occasional Wallace.
This view demonstrated what good a sense a humor Joe Biden has. He mostly couldn't contain the fitting smiles.
