Re: Get It Back - New Studio Song
havent listened but i wanted to say i wish this era of PJ (late era) would just embrace stone as a singer and contributor rather than requiring(?) ed to sing his stuff. they're old and there should be 2-3 stone singing songs per album - because they are good songs. There should also be a Jeff singing song too if it's good enough. They need to embrace that element of the band - other people's voices in front. Many bands let other people sing. Fugazi had multiple singers. PJ should just open it up.

Kind of wish Josh had “accidentally” muted McCready’s lead guitar track in the final mix.

With the mix of emotions i have for it, its overall a great song.Birds in Hell wrote:You guys have this entirely the wrong way around.Strat wrote:you are correct.tragabigzanda wrote:Have listened like six times today. Nothing’s changed. First chunk of the song is pretty meh. That last minute slays.
I think i hate the ol rim shot hits that MC is doing. He does the same thing in Retrograde and its super cheesy to me.

Huh, I think Ed’s vocals in the early part of the song are one of the song’s strengths; almost like he’s tapping back into his 1996-2002 vocal style.

As many 4s and 5s ratings as 2s and 3s. People around here really like Pearl Jam again.

I don't like the music all that much in the first half but Ed is the weakest link here. Surprising because he elevates everything Gigatontragabigzanda wrote:I just think Ed really brings down the first part of the song with his covid vocal

It's a strange song in that nothing is super memorable. I can't for the life of me hum the melody, there is no catchy refrain, its just kind of there. And that is, often times, the pearl jam I love.
The song has a huge payoff.

Great call on the Let it Ride comparison.Strat wrote:Wow. Thats really great. That song really builds, its somewhat quirky, pretty, and the build reminds me of Let it Ride. Where was pearl jam between the years of 2008 and 2020? Man alive.
And stones song? Forget about it. Thats fucking fantastic. Geezes.
And seriously, Pearl Jam is back and as good as ever. Fuck BOB so much.
This song sounds awesome and it rocks out. The guitars are lush. The main cord progression hits a sweet spot for me. Jeff’s bass playing is nicely up in the mix, especially during the solo. It almost has a Real Me vibe at that point. Ed sounds really good here again - like he does on all of Gigaton. Mike’s solo is great, I’d be happy if that went on quite awhile longer. That particular part also is reminiscent of Quick Escape. Matt writes some killer tracks, and I absolutely love his playing on all the new material.
This is Pearl Jam. The real Pearl Jam.
I’m so confused as to how they went down the Backspacer and Lightning Bolt detour for like 12 years. What the hell were they thinking? Clearly they have proven they can still write and record top notch songs. I’m definitely in love with this band again.

I’m going to grab this before it’s gone but are the 3 PJ related tracks worth the $27 price tag?

Re: Get It Back - New Studio Song
By my calculation: the PJ song = $17.50; the song where it sounds like Stone wants to fuck me = $6.25; the Jeff song = $3.25. So yes.thesound wrote:I’m going to grab this before it’s gone but are the 3 PJ related tracks worth the $27 price tag?
