I finally caved and got it. I was waiting for it to show up on Youtube or something and ended up thinking, 'eh why not, it's a great cause and people are saying it's got a WWC vibe and there's some other cool stuff so why not?".

Well ... first listen .... fuck yeah WWC. So way back when I went out and bought the Scroll and It's Combinations and I've been a fan of Matt Cameron's songwriting style ever since. This is definitely of that vibe and man I am so thankful we've got an official PJ tune that could actually fit on the WWC album. So stoked. This is Ed singing as Matt Cameron. He's just trying to do MC justice here and reeling in the Eddie for the sake of some Matt goodness. Pretty much like he sang in Stone's voice for Buckle Up. Matt is such an original songwriter, so distinctive.

THE CHORUS to this song is great great stuff.

I feel like so thankful to have Matt in the band for all this time. If you take his key songwriting contributions, I feel like he's got a solid album's worth of materials and you've kinda if you made a mix tape out of it you've got this sort of sideways quirky element within the PJ catalogue. Loving this.

And I've been arguing this around here for a long time, but PJ never lost it. I like the Avacado-LB stretch and knew if they wanted to get into a 'middle-PJ era' type of approach they were more than capable.

Now I'm on my 6th or so listen .... dudes, I think this is about Chris Cornell.

And it is written in Matt's very unique songwriting voice. It's obviously not the lyrical masterpiece that I think Comes Then Goes is, but this is an amazing *heartfelt* moment from Matt.

It's Matt digging himself out of the hole of the wreckage .... and now I'm getting chills in my spine.

They made me forget for a little while what it was I was a fan of. Gigaton shook me by the shoulders and reminded me. I think there are valid, wonderful artistic statements within BS and LB, but all too often they are layered in tidy gloss with dadrock trappings. I literally became a dad around the time LB came out, so I think in some ways the cliche fit and I was able to transition into that sound. But holy shit, they do *still have it* and god bless Josh Evans and their new studio as well!

It’s a really darn good song. I agree with those who hear “Faithful”.

My oldest is 15 and my youngest is almost 11. I’ve been in dad mode a long time. There is almost nothing I like about Backspacer at this point. LB has a moment or two, but that’s it. Gigaton is up there with the very best of Pearl Jam. Thank fuck for Josh Evans. And thank fuck Pearl Jam decided not to write boring ass songs anymore. And thank fuck Ed spends the whole album singing in his vocal range.

Faithfull and Let it Ride are both good calls. There’s a tiny bit of Amongst the Waves in there too. Wonderful production on all these new songs. Josh Evans is great.

Someone also said otherside and I liked that observation.

Yes. That’s a good call too. It covers the murkier and darker bits of this song that the ones mentioned neglect. I’d also agree that other than Gigaton, this would best fit musically on Riot Act.

I want to hear finished Josh Evans versions of Let it Ride, Cold Confession, 10 Billion Years, and Of the Earth more than ever now.

Matt said on IG it was written in 2018, so there may be some stuff left in the vault.

Had no idea this was a thing. Are there known plans for future availability?
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.
