The best part of gigaton is that even the weak songs are perfectly placed and part of the bigger picture.

Like alright and retrograde.

:haha:

I have had the car for about 10 years and would not be surprised if a couple of the CD’s in there have been there from day one.

I think Never Destination is great.

Probably my second favourite song on the record, after Dance of the Clairvoyants.

I also like Take the Long Way, Alright and Retrograde.

Not too fussed about the rest.

I don't think Gigaton is a very cohesive album as a listening experience, but I don't think that's something the band has ever done well, at least not post-Vs.

I think its their most cohesive album maybe since Vs. Their best since Binaural.

I am *still* at the point where whenever I want to listen to Pearl Jam I just listen to Gigaton (and this new track). I obviously love the other stuff but many months after its release Gigaton is still super fresh to me.

I listened through Ten this weekend.

Ten is better.

Been living with the album for 6 months so I think I'm in a position now to rate the songs without too much 'newness' factor clouding things :)

5*
Dance of the Clairvoyants

4.5*
Who Ever Said
Superblood Wolfmoon
Quick Escape

4*
Take the Long Way

3.5*
Alright
Seven O'Clock
Never Destination
Comes Then Goes

3*
Buckle Up
Retrograde
River Cross

i wish they would release another, limited edition, version of Gigaton, where tracks 5 and onward are worth listening to

Mmmhmm. Coming back the other day for my first listen in about a month, this quality of the album still really stands out.

I still get tremendous joy from Ten - Riot Act. I've listened to Gigaton more than any other album since it's release. And I absolutely crave it over S/T - LB. Gigaton gave me a bit of distaste (this word is too strong but I'm not sure which word to use) for those albums. I have no desire to put them on at all.

But I still crave the others. And hearing Riot Act, Vitalogy, Ten and Yield again recently puts Gigaton into perspective a bit, for me.
